Sizing the Right Water Tank to your Needs is our Goal!!

Step 1 Measure from under the gutter to the ground for the inlet height of the tank.
Step 2 Measure the diameter of the ground area. Place a peg in the ground with a string attached in the centre of this area. Make a circle marking the area and measure across it for the diameter of the tank.
Step 3 Refer to the Tanks Xpress brochure for tank sizes and find the most suitable.
Step 4 Phone our HOTLINE 1300 883175 to order your tank or ask our friendly staff for more information.
Step 5 Suggestion: Purchase the largest tank size that will suit your requirements as the volume of water is the Reason you are buying a water tank, remembering rainfall is not consistent.

Recommended site preparation for Tanks Xpress Polyethylene tank
NB  We require you to arrange for assistance (if needed) to unload the tank upon delivery.

It is important to prepare the site for your new Tanks Xpress Water Tank correctly.

PLEASE READ THE DETAILS BELOW BEFORE INSTALLING YOUR WATER TANK

The site for your tank needs to be at least 150 mms greater than the diameter of your tank.  The surface will need to be compacted and void of sharp stones etc. which may damage your tank.

It is also recommended that a length of flexible hose no shorter than 12” be placed on the outlet from your tank as this will prevent shock and movement pressure on the outlet fitting.  (Flexible coupling must be fitted to each outlet or your guarantee is void)  Poly, PVC or steel is not flexible.

Overflow fittings need to be either plumbed into stormwater drain or plumbed away from the site to avoid site erosion.

The location of your tank site will need to be level and stable and void of areas of instability such as embankments or retaining walls, as such areas need to be professionally verified as capable of supporting the weight of a full water tank.

  1. Concrete Slab
The slab must be at least 150 mm wider than the diameter of the tank and approx. 150 mm thick with 2 layers of F82 mesh 75 mm apart and a rat wall with thickening of 200 mm wide and 200 mm deep with Y 16 reo bar at the bottom of the thickening around the edge of the slab. Concrete mix 32 MPA is recommended.  If in doubt of the stability of soil you need to consult an engineer.
  2. Crusher/metal dust – sand can be used but it is prone to erosion
Spread a layer approx. 50 mm to 75 mm thick and up to 300 mm wider than the base diameter of the tank evenly over the ground.  Once compacted and level the tank can be put in place.  You will need to retain the fill by placing a wall eg: concrete sleepers, rocks or filled bricks around the perimeter.  Ensure that the fill cannot be washed away by run off by diverting the overflow away from the site.
  3. Tank stand
Use of a tank stand is not recommended for tank sizes over 8000 lt size, due to the weight of the tank when full of water.  Make sure the tank stand is designed and built to carry the full weight and if support slats (hardwood decking) are used they are to be no further than 15 mm apart.

It is the customers responsibility to ensure that their tank is secure, this can be achieved by either filling to at least 30mm deep of water or by using a suitable tie down method.
